POINT NEPEAN SHUTTLE SERVICES COMMENCES DECEMBER 22
Point Nepean Shuttle Service
December 2012, a new hop on hop off shuttle service will commence at Point Nepean transporting visitors between the Quarantine Station and Fort Nepean. The Point Nepean Shuttle is a dedicated bus service providing visitors with greater flexibility of ticket sales, improved information and booking systems.
Ventura Buslines, which is the umbrella company of Portsea Passenger Service, was the successful applicant in a recent Expression of Interest process and awarded the permit to provide this service in the park for the next three years.
While this is a long term service, to ensure there is a service for the peak December / January period, it will be offered through two 22 seater buses. This will expand in late January to accommodate wheelchair access and larger capacities. The scheduling and other features will evolve in response to visitor use and feedback over the summer period.
The service will operate every day of the year except Christmas Day. Tickets can only be purchased from the Driver at any stop location. The service no longer stops at the front entrance of the park. Charter bookings are available.
For further information about schedules, ticketing or group bookings visit www.venturabus.com.au or call (03) 5986 5666.
Coinciding with the commencement of this service, the new 150 space public car park and relocated Point Nepean Information Centre within the Quarantine Station will also be operational from this weekend. The Information Centre at the front entrance of the national park will no longer be open. For further information visit www.parks.vic.gov.au or call 13 1963.
